Earlene Sue (Dowling) White

Earlene Sue (Dowling) White, age 79 of West Lebanon, IN, went to be with the Lord at 9:20 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

 

Earlene was born on July 9, 1941 in Hoopeston, IL. She was the daughter of Orra M. and Flossie A. (Clements) Dowling. Earlene was a 1959 graduate of Rossville High School in Rossville, IL. She married Walter W. White in Hoopeston, IL on July 2, 1961 and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2021. Earlene moved to Warren County, IN when she married and had resided there since.

 

While living in Illinois, she worked at GE, Montgomery Ward, and the canning factory in Hoopeston. After marriage, she worked at the Attica Ledger Tribune, Hicks Plaza/Cactus Junction, the Review Republican, and for Artie Allen with Allen Associates. Earlene drove a school bus for over 30 years for M.S.D. of Warren County.

 

Earlene was a member of the West Lebanon Church of the Nazarene. She previously served as a Sunday School Teacher, Bible Quiz teacher, and treasurer.

Earlene enjoyed playing Bingo, bowling, playing cards, and mushrooming. She was an avid Indiana University basketball fan. Earlene loved taking boat rides and fishing and pontooning on the lake. She especially enjoyed being involved with her family, going to all their sports events and activities.

 

Surviving are,

2 children, Melinda R. Potts (Larry) of rural Williamsport, IN and Mark R. White (Michelle) of rural West Lebanon, IN;

2 brothers, Bill Dowling (Norma) of Effingham, IL and Ed Dowling (Shirley) of Hoopeston, IL;

3 grandchildren, Stephanie Houmes (Eric), Colton White, and Cooper White;

3 great-grandchildren, Brodie, Maddox, and Emerie Houmes;

 

 

Earlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; grandson, Tyler D. Potts; and sister, Sondra Dunavan.

 

Visitation will be held at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be there on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ken Pavlick officiating. Interment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warren County Community Foundation Tyler D. Potts Memorial Fund.
