Betty Jane (Turner) Lucas

Betty Jane Lucas, age 91 died January 20, 2019 at Heritage Healthcare Nursing Home in West Lafayette.

Betty was born in Indiana on January 19, 1928. She was the daughter of Russell T. Turner and Edna (Hupp) (Moore) Turner. She was a 1945 graduate of Attica High School.  Betty married Manuel E. Lucas on February 7, 1946 in Warren County. Manuel died November 20, 2005.

Manuel and Betty lived in Warren County until 1956 when they moved to Crawfordsville where they were members of the Whitesville Christian Church. Manuel was a farmer and Betty a homemaker for over 33 years.  They moved to Texas in 1979 and then to Pine Village in 1992 where they were members of the Pine Village Christian Church.  Betty moved to Lafayette in 2006, where she was a member of the Elmwood Church of Christ in Lafayette.  She moved to the nursing home in West Lafayette in 2015.  

Surviving her:  2 sons, Jerry L. Lucas (Maureen) of Atlanta, GA and Brad M. Lucas (Linda) of Hope, IN; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Lorene Eller of Attica and Ernestine Moody of St. Francisville, IL.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel, her daughter, Janice, and two sisters, Phyllis Kirby of Attica and Rosella Wilson of Mulberry.

A memorial service will be held in the near future.
