Helen Maxine (Tallman) Walker

May 12, 1929 — June 21, 2015

Helen Maxine (Tallman) Walker, age 86 of Attica, IN went to be with the Lord at 7:05 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Woodland Manor Nursing Center where she had been a resident the past 3 years. Helen was born near Terre Haute, IN on May 12, 1929. She was the daughter of Frank and Blanche (McCarty) Tallman. She previously lived in Brazil, IN, Ridge Farm, IL, Danville, IL, Bedord, IN, and Lyles, TN before moving to Attica. She attended Indianapolis and Terre Haute schools and later received her CNA from Danville Area Community College. Helen married Chester Clyde Walker on May 21, 1947 in Terre Haute, IN. He preceded her in death on August 22, 1984. Helen worked for various laundry services and restaurants and later the Zenith Factory and retired as a CNA from Americana Nursing Home. She was a faithful Christian and member of the Pilgram Holiness Church in Brazil, IN. She made lovely crochet work, was an excellent cook and her specialties were cream pie, fried chicken and meatloaf. She enjoyed sewing and doing word search puzzles. She loved classic country and gospel music especially the artists, George Jones and Alan Jackson. Surviving are, 3 daughters, Carole Inman (Joe) of Kramer, IN, Gloria Steen (Bob) of Dickson, TN, Barbara Marrow (Mike) of Danville, IL; brother, Bill Tallman (Connie) of Danville, IL; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by 6 brothers, 1 sister, 1 son (Bradley Lyndon Walker), 1 daughter (Vera Maxine Montgomery), 2 grandsons (Sedley “Punky” Montgomery and Eric R. Inman). Graveside services will be held at Poplar Cemetery in Brazil, IN on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Wilma Jean Lytle sharing memories and celebrating Helen’s life.
