William "Bill" F. Talbott

April 28, 1928 — December 30, 2018

William “Bill” F. Talbott age 90 of Williamsport peacefully passed at 10:15 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Franciscan Health in Lafayette surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born east of Attica, IN on April 28, 1928, the son of James Ray Talbott and Artie Victoria Cobb. He resided in Attica for 25 years and has resided in Warren County since 1953. Bill was a 1948 graduate of Attica High School. Bill and Mary Lou Kennedy were married in Sterling, IN on August 26, 1950 and she preceded him in death on August 8, 1975. Bill and Frances A. (Watkins) Furr were married March 13, 1982 and she survives.

Bill was a lineman for Public Service in Attica for six years. He then was the town superintendent for the Town of Williamsport for six years. He was a lineman for Warren County REMC for 34 years, retiring in 1993.

Bill served in the Army National Guard, was a member of the Williamsport Christian Church and previously served as a deacon for many years. He was a board member and treasurer for the Highland Cemetery Association. He served as a troop master for Boy Scouts and was a little league baseball coach for many years. He was a member of the John Purdue club and attended Purdue Women’s basketball games for 25 years. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. In recent years, he enjoyed his morning coffee break with Nobe Gremore and the rest of his friends at Crossroads in Attica.

Bill was a warm, loving man who deeply loved his family.

Surviving with his wife, Frances, are, children, Sheryl “Sherry” Melchi of Remington, IN, Deborah “Debi” Green of Cartersville, GA, W. Scott Talbott (companion: Lori Estes) of Attica, IN, and Teri Jane “T.J.” Willett (Jim) of rural Williamsport, IN; grandchildren, Brian Melchi (Erica), W. Cory Melchi (Nikki), Christian Green (Beth), Jennifer Corbin (Greg), J. Nicholas Green, Logan S. Talbott, Justin Willett, and Amy Spence (Bill); and 13 great-grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Wilda Talbott, Orville Talbott, Oliver Talbott, Eugene Talbott, Wendell Talbott, and Glenn Talbott; and son-in-laws, F.D. “Buster” Melchi and Tony Green.

Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Williamsport Christian Church or the Warren County Community Foundation.
