Virginia Lee Seaton

December 19, 1934 — April 20, 2020

“Well done, thy good and faithful servant.” Virginia Lee (French) Seaton completed her earthly journey Monday, April 20, 2020, at The Waters in Covington, Indiana. She was a resident there for the past year fighting the final stages of Parkinson’s. Virginia is now free and whole to rejoice in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born December 19, 1934 to parents Lowell W. and Ercel (Starr) French of Bismarck, Illinois. Virginia married James E. Seaton of Danville, IL, on November 21, 1954. He survives. Their children include: daughter, Beckey (Rick) Burgoyne of Danville, IL; daughter, Cyndi (Dave) Lohmoeller of Lafayette, IN; and stepson, Jimmy (Carmen) Seaton of Danville, IL. Grandchildren include: Brittni (Kent) Mason, Jake (Rachel) Wilson, Cait (Blaine) Coleman, Trey (Ara) Lohmoeller. Great grandchildren include: Liam, Sebastian, Eliza, Trenton, Lilly, Hayden, Nayeli, Jackson, Jesse, Logan, Kolton, and Kacie. Sisters include: Eileen French, Carole (Preston) Brown, and Judy Bodine. Brother-in-law: David (Alice) Riegle. Her family also included ten nieces and nephews, many cousins, and greats. She loved and enjoyed celebrating family events with them. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents George and Nellie (McDonald) French, Charles and Myra (Cox) Starr; grandson, Maxwell Mason, and step-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Foster; sister-in-law Bonnie Riegle, and brother-in-law Byron Bodine. Virginia graduated from Bismarck High School in 1952 and earned an Associates Degree in Education from Danville Area Community College. She loved teaching in every aspect of her life. Virginia was employed by Danville School District 118, was a full-time homemaker while her children were young, worked retail sales for 30 plus years at Elder Beerman/Carson’s, and used her sewing talents as an alterations seamstress. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, and cooking. Cream pies were her specialties! Virginia loved the Lord with all her heart; serving within her church and community. As a member of Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel, she served through the years as a teacher, Bible School Coordinator, Song Leader, Church Board Secretary, Missionary Ladies, and Choir. Virginia enjoyed being a 4H member and later organized the “Lynch Homesteaders”4H group that she led for ten years. During those 4H years she also served on the 4H Youth Extension Council for 8 years. She was a department head for several years for the Vermilion County Fair. Virginia was a charter member of the Bismarck Jr. Women’s Club. For many years, Virginia served as an Election Judge, only retiring from that position three years ago. Visiting with family, friends, and even customers was one of Virginia’s passions. She will be remembered for her loyalty, compassion, and kindness for all who crossed her path. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the many caregivers over the past five years. A special thank you goes to the staff of The Waters of Covington for the caring, expert care given to Virginia during the darkest of days. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, there will be a private family service and burial at Gundy Cemetery on Friday, April 24. A Memorial Celebration is planned for June 28that 2:00p.m. at Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel in Danville, IL. All are invited to attend. Memorials in Virginia’s name may be given to Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel or the Gideon’s organization. Grady Funeral Home of Williamsport, Indiana, is in charge of all arrangements.
