Ronald L. Humphreys, 86, of Covington, passed away at IU Health in Lafayette, IN, on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
He was born on November 29, 1938, in Potomac, IL, to Charles and Wilma (Hess) Humphreys. After he graduated from Potomac High School in 1957 he started working for Bohn Heat Transfer as a Floor Lead. After 10 years he moved to Faust and Frey in Covington delivering bulk gas before he started working as an appliance technician. After a time he decided to go into business for himself starting Covington Service and Sales with Merle "Chuck" VanLeer. They later sold to Overpeck Gas until he worked until his retirement.
He was first married to Joyce Hoskins and together they had four children. After Joyce's passing in 1992, Ronald met Barbara Syers and her two children. They eventually married, adding to his family. Ronald enjoyed fixing up old tractors, coaching baseball, going to auction sales, and was a member of Covington Masonic Lodge for over 51 years, he also had dual membership in the West Lebanon Masonic Lodge for well over 20 years.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife Barbara; children: Ronald (Tammy) Humphreys, Jeff (Nancy) Humphreys, Pamela (Thiron) Allen, Bo (Rhonda) Humphreys, Candace (Joseph) Good, Anthony (Annie) Syers; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters Norma Bayes, and Noreen Johnson; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife Joyce Hoskins; and brother Tom Humphreys.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial contributions may be donated to St. Jude or the American Heart Association.
