Patsy Lou "Sis" Farrar

September 13, 1938 — April 16, 2022

Patsy Lou “Sis” Farrar, age 83 of Williamsport gained her angel wings while holding the hands of her daughters on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. She had previously been a resident at The Springs in Lafayette.

Patsy was born on September 13, 1938 in her home in Tangier, Indiana. She was the daughter of Zora Norman and Mary Ellen (Paddock) Norman.  Patsy was one of 12 children.

Patsy was a graduate of Tangier High School Class of 1956. Soon after high school she married Thomas Griffin and they had 4 children, they later divorced. Pasty started the ride of her life when she married Melvin “Mel” Farrar on September 3, 1981, including gaining 3 step sons.

Patsy worked in various jobs throughout her life. She babysat several of the neighborhood children, later going to work in the cafeteria at the Williamsport school and was a teacher’s aide in the head start program. After her marriage to Melvin, she traveled and spent many joyful years in Florida. While in Florida she worked in a nursing home as a house keeping supervisor until her retirement. She loved her jobs- being with the kids when they were growing up to being with the elderly at the nursing home. Of all of the jobs she held over her years, being a granny was her utmost enjoyable.

Patsy had attended the Williamsport Christian Church. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles and there was always a jigsaw puzzle on the table for all of her visitors to work with her when stopping by. She also enjoyed crocheting and making Christmas crafts, with her daughter, as presents for her family. Patsy also very much enjoyed playing dice games and card games, where she would only let one granddaughter cheat so she wouldn't cry.

Patsy is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Sullivan (Roy), Pam Flanagan (Kevin), and her two sons, Dennis Griffin (Lori), & Jeff Griffin (Debbie), one sister, Martha Perkins,  and nearly 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents; loving & fun husband, Melvin, beautiful granddaughter, Dusti Simpson, 9 brothers and 1 sister. We know her family were at the gates of heaven to welcome her home so joyful to be with her again with Melvin asking her what took her so long.

Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Wednesday April 20, 2022 from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Badgley officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
