Norman Eugene Colby

Norman Eugene Colby, age 82 of West Lebanon, IN, passed away at 7:35 a.m. on Monday, August 7, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Norman was born on May 24, 1941 in Tilton, IL. He was the son of Glenn Leslie & Hazel (Osborn) Colby. Norman was raised in Tilton, IL and lived in the Danville, IL area for 20 years. He moved to California in 1962 and lived there until moving to Clarks Hill in 1965 and then Westfield in 1973. Norman had resided in Warren County since 2012. He married Judith Groff in Arizona in June of 1962 and she survives.

Norman worked at Danville Davies Meat Packing. He was a Class A lineman in Holtville, CA and later a lineman in Clarks Hill, IN for the Public Service department. Norman later worked at Ford as an electrician until his retirement in 2007.

Norman enjoyed fishing, Sprint race cars, and playing with his grandkids. Norman would fix anything for anybody and always had a way of making a bad situation better. He enjoyed his routine of eating at Crossroads on Tuesdays and Cahills on Fridays.

Surviving with his wife, Judy; children, Randy Colby (Nancy) of Indianapolis, Scott Colby (Lisa) of Seymour, IN, Christine Boyd (Roaul) of Fairbanks, AK; 6 grandchildren, Josh Colby, Jeremy Colby, Jessie Gatlin, Colton Thatcher, Sarah King, and Trevor Colby; 5 great-grandchildren, Makena Colby, Parker Colby, Alivia Colby, Benton Gatlin, and Tripp Gatlin; brother, James Colby (Marilynn) of Macomy, IL.

Visitation will be held at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating and grandson, Colton Thatcher sharing memories.
