Mildred Louise Verden

April 18, 1921 — August 11, 2019

Mildred Louise Verden, age 98 of Marshfield, IN went to be with the Lord at 10:10 a.m. on August 11, 2019 at Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.   Mildred was born on April 18, 1921 on the family farm, south of Marshfield. She was the daughter of Thomas Augustus Verden and Bessie Ewen Verden. She was a lifelong resident of Warren County. Mildred attended Marshfield and West Lebanon schools and was a 1939 graduate of West Lebanon High School.   Mildred worked at the West Lebanon and Marshfield school lunch program. She then worked at Guthman in Attica, Hoopeston Corn, and Bitelers. Mildred later worked at Teepak in Danville, retiring in 1982.   Mildred was a member of the Marshfield Presbyterian Church and also attended Williams Chapel. She loved church dinners, music, and fellowship with all her family and friends. She enjoyed quilting, crafts, and cooking. Mildred volunteered her time at the Woodland Manor Nursing Home for thirty years, and she was awarded volunteer of the year of Indiana in 2010. When she riding with Lana and she would see the farmers in the field, she would turn to Lana and ask, “Why would anyone want to live anywhere but Indiana?”   She was a very special aunt, great aunt to several loving nieces and nephews who live all around the world. She was also blessed with many friends.   Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Merle Verden and Rae Verden, 2 sisters, Esther Metcalf and Marie Randles, and several nieces and nephews.   The family would like to thank the staff of Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of Mildred.   Visitation will be held at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. EDT (Williamsport time) until service time at 1:00 p.m. EDT (Williamsport time) with Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Williams Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.gradyfuneralhome.com.
