Melyssa Lynn (Swanson) Leak

September 28, 1959 — June 2, 2022

Melyssa Lynn Swanson Leak, age 62 of Ambia, IN, went to be with the Lord at 9:36 a.m. on June 2, 2022 surrounded by loved ones at her home.

 

Melyssa was born September 28, 1959, the daughter of John McCord Swanson and Donna Kay (Worley) Swanson in Lafayette, IN.  She was a lifelong resident of Warren County and graduated from Seeger High School in 1977. She furthered her education at Purdue University where she enjoyed studying art. Melyssa worked as a teller at the West Lebanon Citizen’s State Bank and Boswell Farmer’s and Merchant’s Bank. She married her sweetheart, Michael Wayne Leak, on August 27, 1983 and he survives. Melyssa was a Prairie Township Trustee for many years and enjoyed visiting with her neighboring farmers. She was eager to help with the farm work and was always available. She loved her family and enjoyed being an aunt and great- aunt, which afforded her lots of opportunities to share her creative side through sewing and crafting. Melyssa was an avid and quick learner and excelled in all of her interests. Some of her daughter’s treasured memories include weekly trips to the library and sharing her love of reading.  She enjoyed going to Florida with her family and always looked forward to spending time on the beach beside the ocean.

 

Surviving with her husband, Michael, are one daughter, Kimberly Leak (Isaac Larch) of Ambia, IN and 1 sister, Melynda (Jim) Leak of Williamsport, IN. Melyssa is preceded in death by her parents; 1 sister, Melanie Swanson; and 1 brother, Mac Swanson.

 

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held in the Oak Room at the Beef House Restaurant, 16501 N SR 63, Covington, IN 47932, on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will be held at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston at a later date.
