Maxine (Lister) Knipe

Mildred Maxine (Lister) Knipe, age 88 of Williamsport, IN died at 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital Maxine was born in Attica, IN on August 14, 1929. She was the daughter of Charles William and M. Zelma (Jenkins) Lister. She married Clyde “Shorty” L. Knipe on February 2, 1948. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1983. Maxine worked at Radio Material Corp for 10 years and Meadow Heights Nursing Home for 5 years. She then did in home care for 15 years before retiring in 1995. Maxine had attended the Williamsport Christian Church. She was a member of the VFW Post #3318 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Post #52 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed taking bus trips. Maxine was an Elvis fanatic. Surviving are, children, Brenda J. Warren of Williamsport, IN, William “Bub” L. Knipe (Kathy) of Oxford IN, and Scott A. Knipe (Theresa A.) of Highland, IN; sister and best friend, Ruth Rice of Williamsport, IN; 12 grandchildren, Adrian Warren, Casie Payne, Shelley Moody (Greg), Joshua Knipe Seward, David Tallman, Nathan Knipe, Audrianna Knipe, Emma G. Knipe, Selena Pierce, Hannah Knipe, Isabel Knipe, and Mercedes Knipe; and 4 great-grandchildren, Mahaly J. Moody, Ethan W. Moody, Makenzie M. Moody, and Parker Wells.  Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, 7 brothers, 3 sisters, a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter, Amber M. Knipe. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN on Friday, October 6, 2017 from noon until time of service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Newtown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Warren County Community Foundation for the Amber Knipe Fund.
