Marian (Chambers) Jordan

Marian (Chambers) Jordan, age 92, of rural Williamsport, IN, peacefully left her earthly home on July 6, 2025 with her loving and devoted husband, William “Bill” Jordan at her side.

She was born May 19, 1933. Marian was the oldest of two children born to Esther (Butler) Chambers and John Carlton “JC” Chambers. Marian graduated from Williamsport High School in 1951. After graduation she held several jobs ranging from working at local department stores, cleaning houses, serving as a bookkeeper in a number of capacities to serving in different roles within the Warren County Courthouse.

She married the love of her life William Bruce “Bill” Jordan, October 12, 1958 at Pence United Methodist Church, Pence, IN. In the years that followed, they joyfully welcomed their daughter and son, beginning a family that would become Marian’s greatest source of joy.

Marian had a selfless and servant heart. What began as volunteering during her children’s younger years grew into a lifelong commitment to service that extended into her community. She volunteered her time delivering Meals on Wheels and in the office for “Mac Van.” She also served at the polling booths for Steuben Township during election years. Marian relished her hours sitting around her craft and sewing circle at the Marshfield Presbyterian Church helping create, coordinate, and run their annual craft bazaar. She generously gave her time behind the scenes, quietly supporting and volunteering at Woodland Manor Nursing Home in Attica, IN as well as the Williamsport Nursing Home. As Marian and Bill ventured into retirement a lot of their time at home was spent growing, nurturing and preserving their own vegetables from their garden and fruit from their fruit trees. While Bill would spend hours keeping an immaculate garden and tending to cows, Marian would spend her time snapping beans and pitting cherries with her grandchildren at her side. The two found great joy in the role of being Grandma and Grandpa to both grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marian's love was a steady presence, felt in every “I love you” and every Little HUG fruit barrel handed out.

In her later years Marian could be found sitting in her favorite spot by their picture window watching her hummingbirds for hours as they danced from feeder to feeder. Her love for hummingbirds was a reflection of her own spirit - vibrant, full of quiet strength, with just a hint of feistiness, which is how she will always be remembered.

She was preceded in death most recently by her sister-in-law Delores (Brooks) Chambers. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill Jordan, as well as her brother Jerry Chambers. Marian leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness. Her daughter Ellen (Daniel) Pence and her son Brian (Valerie) Jordan; her cherished grandchildren, Kaitlin (Ryan) Nigh and Sean (Shaley) Pence; and her adored great-grandchildren, Reagan, Josephine, Beau, and Hazel Nigh as well as Matilda and Lenora Pence. Her heart and hands may now be at rest, but the love she gave and legacy of service she left behind will continue to ripple through the lives of all who knew her.

A celebration of life will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. with granddaughter Kaitlin Nigh officiating. Inurnment will be at Highland Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Jordan Families Community Grants Fund at Warren County Community Foundation.
