James Allen Schutt, 69, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, July 17, 2026, at Ascension Hospital in Indianapolis, surrounded by family.

Jim was born in South Bend on October 18, 1956, to Leola Ahlgrim Kinson and Richard Schutt. Jim lived his entire life in the South Bend area until his marriage to Margo Fry. They moved to rural Attica to Margo's family farm - Fry Farms where they lived for thirty years.

Jim retired in 2024 from GW Berkheimer Company in Lafayette.

Jim loved living and working on the family farm. He especially enjoyed restoring antique tractors and was an active member of the Illiana Antique Power Association. Jim enjoyed camping and doing puzzles while camping. Jim was an avid Purdue Basketball fan. One of Jims favorite past times was helping his children show Hereford cattle and working with the cattle. Jim adored his granddaughters and loved spending time with them.

He loved his very special dog, Milo, who passed away 48 hours after Jim.

Jim is survived by his wife, Margo, his children - Dr. Emily Fry(John) Giordano of Elkhart, and Charles Fry (Courtney) of rural Attica, his precious granddaughters - Lorna Pearl Fry and Lottie Marie Fry, his sister Sherry (Bill) Holleman of Osceola, IN, three nieces, and his six grandpups.
