Gary Wayne Newnum, age 75 of Covington, IN passed away unexpectedly on November 29, 2022.

 

Gary was born on January 27, 1947 in Covington, IN. He was the son of Dallas Ray and Irene Abigail (Kiger) Newnum. Gary was raised in Yeddo before moving to Covington in 1982. He attended Kingman schools and graduated in 1965. Gary married Donna Martin on August 5, 1966 in Reno, NV and she survives.

 

Gary served in the Air Force from 1966 until 1970. He was stationed at the Travis Air Force Base in California, Rhein-Main Air Force Base in Germany, and the McGuire Air Force Base in Massachusetts. Gary later worked as a truck driver for many years.

 

Gary attended the Wallace Christian Church. He was a member of the F&AM Anchor Lodge #980 in Danville, IL. Gary was a dedicated Mason for 44 years and was Past Master in 1981. He loved fishing, hunting, playing euchre, and spending time with his family. Gary enjoyed supporting his kids and grandkids at their events. He also enjoyed taking his grandkids fishing at Frank’s Pond.

 

Surviving with his wife, Donna, are:

3 daughters, Shelly Simmons (husband: Cecil) of Covington, IN, Kelly Snoddy (husband: Brad) of Covington, IN, and Jaime Pettit of Covington, IN;

7 grandchildren, Bradley Snoddy, Zachary Snoddy (wife: Taylor), Noah Snoddy (fiancé: Emily), Spencer Pettit, Nai`a Pettit, Holly Simmons, and Kali Pettit;

2 great-grandchildren, Kai Snoddy, Bentley Snoddy, and 1 on the way

 

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Evans, Norma Voorhees, and Sharon Huxford; and grandson, Brandon Simmons.

 

There will be no services at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
