Gardner Daniel Bowers

Gardner Daniel Bowers, age 80 of Veedersburg, IN passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family and is now in His presence.

 

Gardner was born on January 14, 1939 in Covington, IN. He was the son of Gardner Sampson Bowers and Claudette Clark. He was a graduate of Covington High School. He married Nancy L. Godbey on February 5, 1960 in Covington, IN and she survives. He had resided in Veedersburg, IN for the last 58 years.

 

Gardner worked at Olin Cellophane Plant, later named Flexel, in Covington, retiring in 1997.

 

Gardner was a member of Covington First Baptist Church. He loved God, his family, and his church. Gardner loved to work, riding motorcycles, camping, and fishing. He enjoyed traveling and family vacations.

 

Surviving with his wife, Nancy, are:

Children, Daniel Scott Bowers (wife: Kimberly) of West Lafayette, IN and Charles Douglas Bowers (wife: Cathy) of Middleton, WI;

Sister, Amber Brewer of Jacksonville, FL;

6 grandchildren;

2 great-grandchildren;

Several loving nieces and nephews

 

Gardner was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tedia May Snow; and younger brother, Robert Clinton Bowers.

 

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, 515 6thSt, Covington, IN 47932, on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. EDT until service time at 2:00 p.m. EDT with Pastor Andy Harkleroad officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington. In lieu of flowers and gifts please consider a donation to First Baptist Church benevolence fund- thank you, Gardner and Nancy.
