Freida Anne (Shoaf) Owens

Freida Anne (Shoaf) Owens, age 80 of West Lebanon, IN, passed away at 7:15 p.m. on January 20, 2022 at Franciscan Health East in Lafayette.

Freida was born on July 9, 1941 in West Lebanon, IN. She was the daughter of Arnet and Twylamae Elizabeth (Lohmeyer) Shoaf. Freida was a life-long Warren County resident. She attended West Lebanon Schools. Freida married Richard “Wayne” Owens on June 26, 1958 in Williamsport, IN and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2007.

In her early years, Freida worked at Seeger High School as a janitor. She later owned her own cleaning business, Owens Cleaning, which she operated for 30 years.

Freida was a member of the West Lebanon Christian Church. She was a very hard worker. Freida enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers and mowing her yard. Freida was an excellent cook, known for her fantastic roast beef and cookies.

Surviving are,

1 son, Kevin W. Owens of West Lebanon, IN;

1 daughter, Terri Eades (Tony) of West Lebanon, IN;

4 grandchildren, Anthony W. and Brian L. Eades and Kaylee C. and Wayne L. Owens;

6 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Edward, Samuel, Lily, Natalie, and Harrison Eades;

2 sisters, Juanita Bannon (Tom) of rural West Lebanon, IN and Melvia Dawson (Bob) of Williamsport, IN;

1 brother, Melvin Shoaf (Susan) of rural West Lebanon, IN

Freida was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; and daughter-in-law, Mechel.

A private funeral service will be held at Grady Funeral Home. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to West Lebanon Fire Department and Rescue or COPD Foundation.
