Fred M. Hobson

Fred M. Hobson, age 81 of West Lebanon, IN died at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Williamsport Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.Fred was born on November 23, 1936 in Covington, IN. He was the son of Fred D. Hobson and Mildred (Snoddy) Miller. Fred attended Covington Schools. He served in the US Army from 1954-1959. On December 6, 1964 he married Peggy Murphy in West Lebanon. She survives. Fred was a welder at Hyster in Danville, IL from 1978 until he retired in 2001. He enjoyed stock car racing and liked to build race cars. He was very patriotic and would have defended the United States until his death. He loved his grandchildren. Surviving are, wife, Peggy Hobson of West Lebanon, IN; 2 children, Tony Hobson of Richmond, IN and Kelly S. Bush (Matt) of West Lebanon, IN; 2 grandchildren, KreeAnne Booher and Jason Bush; and 1 great-grandson, Ronnie Jase Purcell.  Fred was preceded in death by his mother, stepfather, Harris Miller, and sister, Diane Keller. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Lawrence officiating. Inurnment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Charity.
