Dorothy Jean (Mickle) Johnson

Dorothy Jean (Mickle) Johnson, age 94 of Williamsport, IN passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Autumn Trace in Attica.

 

Dorothy was born on August 18, 1927 in Waukesha, WI. She was the daughter of William R.(Rock) and Gail Lenore (Smith) Mickle. Dorothy was a 1945 graduate of Attica High School and attended the Vogue Institute in Chicago. She has lived in Attica, Chicago, Terre Haute, Monticello, Dugger, Cambridge City, Angola, Lafayette, and Williamsport. Dorothy lived in the Williamsport area since 1967. She married John R. “Bob” Johnson on January 17, 1948 in Attica, Indiana. They were married for over 71 years. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2019. 

 

Dorothy attended Methodist and Presbyterian churches. She was a member of Psi Iota Xi.

 

She enjoyed many things in her life...most important was her family. She loved to play Bridge, and other card games with a passion. She enjoyed golf and most games. Days of Our Lives just lost a devote'.

 

 

Her primary vocation was a housewife. Dorothy worked for Harrison Steel, Carson, Pirie, Scott in Chicago, Angola School System, and ran the clubhouse at Big Pine Golf Course.

 

Dorothy spent much of her life volunteering for various service and church groups doing community service. 

 

Surviving are,

Children, Brad Johnson of Williamsport, IN and Jill (John) Wright of Marshfield, IN;

Sister, Beverly North of Fishers, IN;

Sister-in-laws, Charlotte Mickle of Oxford, IN and JoAnn Mickle of Atwater, MN;

Grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Wright, Keith (Jessica) Wright, Megan (Mark) Hickman;

Great-grandchildren, Grace Wright, Andrew and Meredith Wright, and Penelope and Tallulah Hickman

 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; 3 brothers, W.R. Mickle II, Jack Mickle, and James R. Mickle; and 1 sister, Sarah Hansley.

 

A private graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Attica. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Warren County Community Foundation.
