Christopher "Jack" Columbus Whitehead

Christopher Columbus “Jack” Whitehead, age 77 of Attica, IN died at 9:10 a.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at his residence.

Jack was born June 10, 1941 to William T. Whitehead and Zora (Waters) Whitehead in Blue Heron, KY. He lived in Kentucky and attended school in Stearns, KY until moving to Attica in 1958. He married Shirley D. Rouse October 10, 1970 in Attica, IN and she survives.

Jack worked at Harrison Steel Casting Company in Attica for over 30 years where he was affectionately known as the candy man, retiring in 2003.

On May 5, 1968 Jack came forth and was saved and joined the Independence Old Fashioned United Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing hand-held games, mushrooming, rabbit hunting, fishing, gardening, playing basketball, and mowing the yard. He was an Indiana University basketball fan and a St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Surviving are, children, Angel M. Stulz (Bill) of Attica, IN, Jeffrey J. Whitehead (Tina) of Southeast, MO, and Mark A. Vanness of Mayfield, KY; siblings, Joe Whitehead (Darlean) of Attica, IN, Phyllis Watson (Delmas) of Revlo, KY, Eddie Whitehead (Beatrice) of Attica, IN, Shirley Crabtree of Pine Knot, KY, Brenda Hasket (Larry) of Springfield, MO, Lena Dick of Florida, and Gale Whitehead (Lisa) of Revlo, KY; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by a daughter, Micky D. Bryan and sister, Retha Stultz. 

A celebration of life will be held at the Independence Old Fashioned United Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at a later date.
