Bruce Andrew Gee, age 93 of Covington, IN, died peacefully in the Lord at 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Hope Care Center in Fort Myers, FL.
Bruce was born on August 18, 1925, to Chauncey Bruce Gee and Ida May (Murphy) Gee. He was the sixth of twelve children who preceded him in death. Being born and raised in Warren County, he was a graduate of Marshfield School. On May 12, 1950 he married Patsy Sharlene McLain at the Galloway Chapel. She also preceded him in death on November 16, 2018.
Bruce served his country in the U.S. Army as a replacement for the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. He worked for Allied Chemical, retiring in 1987. Farming was his avocation. He had a “green thumb” for planting and raising flowers and trees. Bruce was known and loved for his sense of humor and quick wit. He was devoted to his family, especially his beloved wife Patsy. Bruce was an active member of his church, St. Joseph’s in Covington.
Surviving are, 2 Daughters, Jann Metelko of Greenfield, IN and Linda Gee of Milwaukee, WI; 2 Grandsons, Major Andrew Metelko of Hampton, VA and John (Beth) Metelko of Evansville, IN; and 3 Great-Granddaughters, Rose Metelko, Cecelia Metelko and Meredith Metelko.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; 6 sisters, Doris Inman, Rosie Simonton, Luella Beardsley, Cynthia Simonton, Eva Lape, and Ann Wesley; and 5 brothers, David Gee, Gordon Gee, Frank Gee, Richard “Dick” Gee, and Howard Gee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial at Lower Mound Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, February 8, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
