It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother Brenda Mae Jasper (Cole). Brenda passed away peacefully in her home leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Brenda was born on January 2nd, 1952, in Ashtabula, Ohio. She spent many years of her life caring for the elderly and disabled. Brenda was a devoted employee, described by co-workers as someone who always worked very hard and made sure that everyone was cared for to the absolute best of her ability. Brenda retired from the work she so dearly loved in 2018.
Brenda was a woman of quiet strength. She was an avid reader and would have several books read in a very short period of time. Her family fondly recalls at vacation time, Brenda would have had the hotel information book, emergency escape routes and any other information one might need to know read before even getting fully checked in.
She had a generous heart, and a deep, unwavering devotion to her family. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. She spent a great deal of time outside when the weather was nice-- up early in the morning on the back porch with her cup of coffee and often the book she was reading. Brenda made a lasting impact on the lives around her, especially on her children and grandchildren. She taught the value of honesty, hard work, and perseverance. She had a loving heart and was an excellent listener. She would always provide the best advice- but always in a way that made you feel empowered, as though you had discovered the answer yourself.
Brenda is survived by her three children, Scott Jasper, Lisa Gustus, and Lori Burton, five grandchildren Ashley Simonton, Codey Jasper, Paige Moore Fairchild, Hannah Gustus, and Jasper Moore, and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Darlene Patterson, Fay Pruitt, and Norma Lacy and two brothers, Larry Cole and Gerald Cole. She also has several surviving nieces and nephews.
Brenda was preceded in death by her loving husband Ronald Jasper, her parents Leonard and Pauline Cole, her brothers Clay Cole, and Stephen Cole. She was also preceded in death by an infant great grandchild, Buddy Tyler Fairchild.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in the lessons she taught, the memories she created, and the love she so freely shared. In keeping with her wishes, Brenda entered eternal rest through cremation. A celebration of life is planned for family and friends on Sunday March 15th from 1:00pm -3:00pm at the Badlands Community Center in Attica Indiana.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Elara Hospice for the care and support provided over the last few weeks.
Brenda will be deeply missed and forever remembered
