Billy Lee Willett

Billy Lee Willett, age 89 of Williamsport, IN, passed away at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation.

 

Billy was born on March 22, 1933 in Jordan Township, IN. He was the son of Hubert and Eulala Fay (Clark) Willett. Billy attended Marshfield and Pence elementaries and was a 1951 graduate of Williamsport High School.  Billy resided in the rural Williamsport area before moving into town in 2001. He married Lelah M. Cole on June 5, 1955 at the Federated Church in West Lebanon, IN and she survives. 

 

Billy served in the U.S. Army as a corporal from 1953-1955 during the Korean war. He was stationed in Germany.  Billy farmed until his retirement in 1993. He had also worked at Olin’s in Covington, IN for 7 years.

 

Billy was a member of the Pence Church of Christ and later a member of the Tab Church of Christ. He was a member of the masonic lodge, American Legion Post 52 Attica, and the Attica VFW Post #3318. Billy enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching all of his grandchildren’s activities.

 

Surviving with his wife, Lelah, are:

 

2 children, Joyce Bell of Covington, IN and Jim Willett (T.J.) of rural Williamsport, IN;

5 grandchildren, Ryan Bell, Tyson Bell (Missy), Justin Willett (Jennifer), and Amy Spence (Billy);

7 great-grandchildren, Austin Long, Mason Bell, Liam Bell, Alivia Bell, Adrian Bell, Isabella Spence, and Avelyn Spence;

1 brother-in-law, Arlis Abbott of Williamsport, IN;

Several nieces and nephews

 

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Barbara Abbott and Janet Hensley; and son-in-law, Jeff Bell. 

 

 

Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rod Andrews officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tab Church of Christ or Williamsport Summer Park Program.
