Beverly E. (Johnson) Lake

February 9, 1940 — January 27, 2024

Attica

Beverly Lake passed away Saturday, Jan 27, 2024, in Indianapolis.  Bev was born February 9, 1940, in West Lebanon, Indiana, daughter of Clarence (Tack), and Leah Doris (Gee) Johnson.

She attended West Lebanon schools. She married Don Reese in 1962, and had six children, Brad Reese of West Lebanon, Jami (Steve) Ruark of Mellott,  Greg Reese, of Attica, Troy Reese of West Lebanon, Bobby Reese, of Crawfordsville, and Jennifer (Dante) Wells, of Shadeland. They divorced, but remained lifelong friends, until his death in 2015. She married Robert  “Bob” Sargent at Grover Williams’ Scandinavian inspired church in Johnsonville, In, and had another daughter, Carrie Marie Sargent, of Attica.  Bob passed in 1996.

She married Clinton Ray Lake, at her brother Kevin’s home on New Years Eve, 1997. Together they traveled, and entertained their family and friends with numerous big parties, where they spoiled everyone with great food and fun.

Bev was very outgoing, and never met a stranger. Her nieces and nephews tell of always wanting to go to Aunt Bev’s, because they felt so loved, and she was such fun. She was a terrific cook and baker, and gifted everyone enormous amounts of candy on holidays. Her specialties were fudge and toffee. She loved to decorate her home, and was a big fan of Kenny Rogers and Elvis, and had visited Graceland. She had a huge heart, and was known to give away anything she had, and had too many friends to count.

Her family and friends will miss her deeply, but take great comfort in the fact that she lived a full, and meaningful life.

She is survived by all of her children, three sisters, Kay Henry of Attica, Glenda (Glenn) Frye of West Lebanon, Janis (Randy) Wurtsbaugh of Williamsport. Two brothers, Jim (Maryann) Johnson, of Bloomington, In. and Kevin (Marcy) Johnson, of West Lebanon. Fourteen Grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many step children, and nieces and nephews, that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and brothers Terry Johnson, and Robert A. Johnson, brothers in law, Benny Byers, and Dave Henry, and nephew, Jeff Henry.

As per her wishes, there will be no services. Thank you to all who showed our family love and support, during her untimely illness, and especially for loving our mom and sister.
