Allen Lynn Lathrop

November 15, 1950 — February 2, 2019

Allen “Lynn” Lathrop, age 68 of Veedersburg, IN passed away at 4:46 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.


Lynn was born in Danville, IL on November 15, 1950.  He was the son of James P. and Wilma M. (Crisp) Lathrop.  He was a 1968 graduate of Danville High School.  After graduation he joined the US Air Force where he was stationed at Homestead Air Force Base.  On June 10, 1972 he married Sandra Lee Brown in Danville, IL.  She survives.  He resided in Homestead, FL until Hurricane Andrew in 1992 when they moved to West Palm Beach, FL.  They moved to Veedersburg in 2014.


Lynn was a manager and grower at a nursery in Homestead, FL.  He later worked for Helena Chemical in Delray Beach, FL retiring in 2013.  Lynn loved fishing and watching NASCAR.  Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was his favorite driver. He loved to fly remote control planes and enjoyed woodworking. 


Surviving with his wife, Sandy, are,

2 children, Jeromy Lee Lathrop (fiancée: Dawn Sexton) of West Lebanon, IN and Crystal Lynn Lathrop (husband: Joshua Purcell) of Williamsport, IN;

1 brother, Duane Lathrop (wife: Donna (Holycross) of Covington, IN;

8 grandchildren, Abby and Damon Miller, Destin, Sydney, Mya, Jamie, Anna, Joshua, and Bella;

Several nieces and nephews


Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Chad Allen Lathrop, and a brother, James D. Lathrop.


Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Matt Harmless officiating.  Interment will follow at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Online condolences may be made at
