Roy B. Land age 72 of Danville died at 8:43 a.m. CST on Thursday, December 9, 2010. Roy was born on September 5, 1938 in West Lebanon, IN. He was the son of Samuel and Helen R. (Kennedy) Land. He married Ruth McKinley on November 24, 1973 in Westville, IL. She survives. Roy had attended West Lebanon schools and later received his GED from Danville Area Community College. He was raised and lived in West Lebanon until moving to Danville, IL in 1971. Roy worked in the maintenance department of Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, IL from February, 1971 until December, 1993. He loved fishing, mushroom hunting with his daughter Sarah, and playing bingo with his daughter Helen. Roy enjoyed coffee time at County market with his friends. Surviving with his wife Ruth are, 3 daughters, Helen Beams (husband: Jeff), Sarah Taylor (husband: Jeromy), and Julie Zabelka; 3 brothers, Walter Land of Florida, Jerry Land of Kentucky, and Larry Land of Crawfordsville, IN; 1 sister, Mable Geiger (husband: Morris) of Crawfordsville, IN; 6 grandchildren, Kayla Kirk (husband: Michael), Joshua Waldon, Ashley Borden, Austin Taylor, Bandon Taylor, and Nathaniel Zabelka; 1 great-grandson, Colton Kirk; and many nieces and nephews. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Mary Shelley, Janet Land, and Sue Titus, 4 brothers, Joseph, James, Raymond, and Jack Land. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon on Monday, December 13, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. EST. Services will be at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. EST. with pastor Roger McDaniel officiating. Interment will be at Johnson Cemetery in Danville, IL. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.
