Gladys Marie (Kauffman) Megenhardt

Gladys Marie (Kauffman) Megenhardt, age 90 of West Lebanon, died at 9:52 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica, IN. Gladys was born on December 25, 1919 in Lafayette, IN. She was the daughter of Velda R. and Mona L. (Vayou) Kauffman. She attended Lafayette schools. Gladys lived in Lafayette until moving to Brazil in 1976 and has resided in West Lebanon since 1997. She married Ray Megenhardt in 1956 and he preceded her in death in 1997. Gladys was a cook for several restaurants and resorts and had managed the Wabash and the Derby restaurants. She enjoyed quilting and making rag dolls and doll clothing. Surviving are, children, Janet Booth of West Lebanon, Carol Myers (husband: Robert) of Lafayette, Linda Hensley (husband: Donald) of West Lebanon, Bill Leming (wife: Mary Lou) of Lafayette, IN and Mick Leming of Oxford, IN; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, 4 sisters, 3 grandchildren, son-in-law, Ralph Booth, daughter-in-law, Mary Leming, and 1 step-grandchild. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Trafford officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Guardian Angel Hospice, 1221 S. Creasy Lane, Suite F, Lafayette, IN 47905.
