Dorothy M. (Witterich) Jackson

Dorothy M. (Witterich) Jackson, age 86 of Williamsport, IN died at 3:25 A.M. on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at The Waters of Williamsport after an 18 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Dorothy was born in Rankin, IL on November 6, 1923. She was the daughter of William and Della (Mathis) Witterich. She graduated from Rankin Community High School in 1941. On December 7, 1946 she married Earl E. Jackson in Hoopeston, IL where they resided until moving to Williamsport 20 years ago. He survives. Dorothy was previously employed at American Can in Hoopeston, IL. She was an active member of the Williamsport United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Women’s Club. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3318 Attica, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #259 Williamsport, and the Williamsport- Attica Senior Center. She helped with bingo for over 7 years at The Waters of Williamsport. Surviving with her husband, Earl, are, 2 children, Gary Jackson (wife: Linda) of Nashville, TN and Vicki Fox (husband: Michael) of Newburgh, IN; 1 daughter-in-law, Joanne Jackson of rural Williamsport; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Edward Earl Jackson, stepson, Richard Jackson, and 2 sisters, Wilma Schippert and Bearnice Hoffbaur. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Williamsport United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles B. Anderson and Rev. Cathy McCoy officiating. Interment will be at Floral Hill in Hoopeston, IL. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Williamsport United Methodist Church or the Williamsport Attica Senior Center.
