Roger Paul Williams

Roger Paul Williams passed away on July 13, 2010 in Methodist Hospital. He was born in Benton County on May 25, 1926. A graduate of Earl Park High School, Paul served in the Navy. Following his military service, he purchased farmland in Warren County where he lived until last fall when he and Gladys moved to Terre Haute to be near family. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; son, Jerry (Jim) Kruger; and daughter, Liz Williams Kauffman and Bill. Grandchildren are Troy Kruger and Brandy, Kristen Kauffman Cole and Matt, and Michael Leader. He has a great-grandson Kasey Kruger. Paul also has many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Paul was preceded in dead by his parents Bradley and Hattie Williams, his brothers and sisters: Earl, Ervin, Carl, Bessie, Ruth, and Jewel, a daughter-in-law Janice Kruger and his beloved daughter, Mary Ann. Paul was involved in the Warren County community serving on the Seeger School Board of Trustees. He was very active with local politics serving as Township Trustee and County Commissioner. He was named Honorary Secretary of State of the State of Indiana, on November 28, 1983 by then Secretary of State Edwin J. Simcox and named a Sagamore of the Wabash on March 21, 1984 by then Governor Richard D. Orr. As a long-time member Hickman Heights Christian Church, Paul served as a Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Vacation Bible School teacher. Paul loved to play the banjo for anyone who would listen on his back patio, at Church, at the Warren County Home, and at the Warren County Fair. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 8, 2010 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at Hickman Heights Christian Church, 3291 N 100 E , Williamsport, Indiana. Friends and family are invited to attend and share memories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hickman Heights Christian Church.
