James Joseph Stump

James “Jim” Joseph Stump, age 75, passed from this life on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the family home in Lafayette. He had his family and his best friend, Molly, at his side. Jim was born May 8, 1934 in Lafayette, the second son of George F. and Vera Margaret McIntyre Stump. He graduated from Williamsport High School class of 1952 and then attended the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. Jim and Nedra Bartlett were married December 1, 1953 in Attica, IN. They resided in Jordan Township farming for many years. He served on the Township Advisory Board for 16 years. He served as a 4-H leader, on the fair board, and assisted in the beef cattle department for many years. He was proud to have carried one of the first petitions to consolidate the County Schools. He proudly supported the Seeger Athletic Boosters for many years. He loved Canadian fishing, Purdue sports and the Indianapolis Colts. His greatest passions were his friends and family. He was a member of the Tab Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Nedra, and his children, Rebecca Cutchin (David) of Lafayette, Steve Stump of Austin, TX, Roberta Connelly (Timothy) of Champaign, IL, and Joseph Christopher Stump (Cindy) of Noblesville, IN; the loves of his life, James Tanner (Kristi) of New Market, IN, Jennifer Bolen (Bill) of Whitestown, IN, Sara Gould (Keith) of Houston, TX, Christopher Connelly, U.S. Navy, Jada and Cody Stump of Rosanky, TX, Erin & Patrick Connelly of Champaign, IL, C.J. and Corinne Stump of Noblesville, IN, Schuyler Cutchin of Lafayette, and 5 very special greats, Aubrey and Maeson Tanner, Cameron Gould, and 6 week old Dean and Gage Bolen. He was preceded in death by his parents and his second set, Robert and Clara Bartlett, and 2 brothers, Richard and Charles. Visitation will be on Monday, November 30, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Jim and Nedra’s home, 4414 Fiddlesticks Drive, Lafayette, IN. On Tuesday, December 1, 2009 visitation will be at the Williamsport Christian Church from 10:00 am until service time at 11:30 am. Rev. Don Williams will be officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warren County Community Foundation.
