Lola C. Strong

Lola C. Strong, age 86 of Williamsport, IN died at 12:13 pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. Lola was born in Georgia on May 9, 1923. She was the daughter of Fred and Arizona (Jones) Holtz. She was a 1941 graduate of Williamsport High School and was a Warren County resident most of her life. On September 12, 1941 she married Robert Kight and they later divorced. On July 26, 1956 she married George S. Strong in Newport, IN and he preceded her in death on February 4, 1982. Lola was a member of the Williamsport United Methodist Church. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, and Indiana men and Purdue women basketball. She loved her family, home, friends and neighbors, and especially her cat, Ebony. Surviving are, son, James Kight (wife: Bonnie) of Williamsport; step-daughter, Martha Crumley (husband: Wayne) of Bellevue, Nebraska; grandson, David Kight of Attica; step-granddaughter, Marlene Stenbom (husband: Bob) of Apple Valley, Minnesota; special sister-in-law, Wilodene Chaffin of Bremen, IN; 2 nieces and 2 nephews; and a step-great-grandson. Lola was preceded in death by a brother, Robert J. Chaffin, and a step-great-granddaughter. Visitation will be at the Williamsport United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 11:00 am until service time at 2:00 pm with Rev. Charles B. Anderson and Rev. Don Williams officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Warren County Community Foundation.
