Coburn D. "Cobe" Marlatt

Coburn D. “Cobe” Marlatt, age 87 of Williamsport, died at 8:20 pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. Cobe was born on July 26, 1922 in Pence, IN. He was the son of Coburn and Mary (Dutcher) Marlatt. He was a 1940 graduate of Williamsport High School. Cobe was a lifelong resident of Warren County. He married Hazel Irene Worley on May 31, 1941 in Williamsport and she preceded him in death on September 30, 1996. Cobe served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a retired rural mail carrier and had owned and operated Marlatt Real Estate. Cobe was a member of the Williamsport Christian Church where he was an elder emeritus, trustee and had taught adult Sunday School for 40 years. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #259 in Williamsport, a former member of the F & AM Lodge #38 Williamsport and a current member of the F & AM Lodge #325 West Lebanon, receiving his 50 year pin. He enjoyed collecting coins, snowmobiling, skiing, fishing, boating, and hunting. Cobe enjoyed vacations, traveling out west, with his family. He especially loved his friends and family. Surviving are, 2 children, Shirley Ellsworth (husband: Dr. Richard) of Lafayette, IN and Douglas Marlatt (wife: Robin) of Covington, IN; 5 grandchildren, Marc Gentry, Katie Stayte (husband: Greg), Rebecca Holycross (husband: Scott), Jodi Walker (husband: Dr. John) and Chad Ellsworth (wife: Nicolle); and 7 great-grandchildren, Evan, Madison, Grace, Sadie, Emma, Ellie and Afton. Cobe was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel, sister, Bernice McKinney, and 2 brothers, Howard and Sam Marlatt. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Friday, September 25, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Services will be on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Williamsport Christian Church with Rev. Don Williams officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Williamsport Christian Church.
