Ron L. Crane

Ron Crane, age 86 of Williamsport, IN died at 4:58 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Parkview Healthcare in Attica, IN. Ron was born in East Chicago, IN on October 5, 1930. He was the son of Vivian and Irene (Julian) Crane. He resided in East Chicago in his early childhood becoming a resident of Warren County in 1945. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1949 and later attended Indiana University. He married Norma Jean McIntosh on February 3, 1963 in Judyville, IN and she survives. Ron served in the US Navy and was stationed in Korea. He worked for IBM in Texas and had an interest in 3 drive-in restaurants with his wife. He retired from General Foods in Lafayette in 1989. Ron was a member of the Judyville United Methodist Church. He was an avid Bobby Knight and IU basketball fan and liked to collect bittersweet in the fall. His parents owned Carbondale beginning in the 1940’s for many years and when his family moved back to the area he enjoyed spending time there. Surviving with his wife, are, 2 children, Sara Bartlett of Williamsport, IN and Timothy Crane (Sara) of West Lafayette, IN; 2 brothers, Billie Crane (Barbara) and Phil Crane (Mary) both of Lafayette, IN; 5 grandchildren, Abbi Crane, Brady Crane, Kylie Crane, Haley Bartlett, and Elizabeth Crane.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Bob Crane, Timothy Crane, and Danny Crane. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Hugh Rohrer officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Village Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Judyville United Methodist Church.
