Betty J. (Borst) Kiger

Betty J. (Borst) Kiger, age 81 of Williamsport, died at 12:36 pm EDT on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after a brief illness. Betty was born in Attica, IN on October 30, 1927. She was the daughter of George Ray and Jenny (Harvey) Borst. She was a 1945 graduate of Attica High School. She was a resident of Warren County since 1948 and Williamsport since 1979. She married Joe N. Kiger on September 4, 1948 in Williamsport. He survives. Betty was a homemaker. She was a member of the Pence Christian Church for 30 years and is a member of the Williamsport Christian Church where she was very active. She was a button collector and enjoyed antiques. She loved flowers and gardening. Surviving with her husband, Joe, are 3 children, Jim Kiger of West Lebanon, Connie (Kiger) Gray (husband: Steve) of Alexandria, IN, and Jeff Kiger (wife: Valerie) of Rochester, MN; 2 sisters, Josephine Peterson (husband: Frank) and Pauline Bossaer (husband: the late John) both of Attica, IN; 1 sister-in-law, Frances Borst of Williamsport, IN; many nieces and nephews; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by a son, John Mark Kiger, 3 brothers and 2 sister-in-laws, Louie and Hazel Borst, Frank and Margaret Borst, and Ray Borst, 1 sister and brother-in-law, Genevieve and Robert Green. Visitation will be at the Williamsport Christian Church on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Services will be there on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Don Williams officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Williamsport Christian Church.
