Owen Maynard

Owen Maynard, age 79 of Tab, IN, died at 12:31 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at St. Elizabeth East in Lafayette, IN. Owen was born on October 4, 1936 in Sand Creek, W. Va. He was the son of Manley and Elsie (Black) Maynard. He attended Guyan Valley High School in West Virginia where he resided until moving to Chicago, IL in 1959. He married Janice M. Williamson on November 21, 1959 in Harts, W. Va. and she survives. They moved to Chicago where they resided until 1988 when they moved to Tab, IN. Owen retired from US Steel, Chicago, IL in 1988. He was a member of the Williamsport Church of Christ. Owen loved his family and his grandchildren were his life. Surviving with his wife, Janice, are, 1 daughter, Cathy Hayes (Mark) of Boswell, IN 3 sons, James Owen Maynard (Annamarie) of Dyer, IN, Jerry Lee Maynard (LaRhonda) of Whiting, IN and Brett Layne Maynard (Amy Lou) of Crawfordsville, IN Siblings, Manley Maynard, Jr. (Alvetta), Billy Joe Maynard (Freddie), James E. Maynard (Lovadis), David Lee Maynard (Patricia), Shirley Manns (Ronald), Anna Manns, Ezra D. Maynard (Glenith), and Edward E. Maynard (Glenna) 11 grandchildren 6 great-grandchildren Owen was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Sara Lucas and Beatrice E. Marshall, and 3 brothers Calvin Maynard, Allen Maynard, and Dennis Maynard. Visitation will be Monday, July 18, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport. Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery.
