John D. Cronkhite

John D. Cronkhite, age 77 of Sheldon, IL, formerly of Warren County, IN, died at 12:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Indiana University Health Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. John was born in Alvin, IL on November 4, 1938. He was the son of Russell and Ruth (Scott) Cronkhite. He attended Williamsport High School. John had lived in Warren County, IN, Nebraska, OH and Southern Indiana before moving to Sheldon, IL with his daughter. John married Doris Lee Utsler on June 6, 1976. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2009. John was a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, metal detecting and did horse shoeing. Surviving are, children, Jerry Butler of Dayton, IN, Rhonda Nally of Greencastle, IN, Johnny Cronkhite of Reynolds, IN, Johnna Stafford of Indianapolis, IN, Gena Stalford of Marietta, OH, Michele Halsema (Rex) of Monticello, IN, Shan McDannel (Debra) of Kentland, IN, Rebecca Robers (Mike) of Logan, OH, and Marta Scott (J.R.) of Sheldon, IL; siblings, Dale Cronkhite of AL, Donna Beasley of Terre Haute, IN, Diana Lynn Moore of Lafayette, IN, Debbie Eastman of Nashville, TN; 26 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, a sister, Sherry Cronkhite, 2 infant brothers. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. EDT until service time at 3:00 p.m. EDT with Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for the purchase of a headstone.
