Jerry K. Yates, age 83 of West Lebanon, died at 9:50 pm EDT on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at The Waters of Williamsport.
Jerry was born in Joliet, IL on September 15, 1925. He was the son of Cordia and Beulah (Kenfield) Yates. Jerry lived in North Morenci, MI before moving to West Lebanon in 1935. He was a 1943 graduate of West Lebanon High School. On April 3, 1946 he married Wanda E. Howard in Williamsport, IN. She survives.
Jerry served in the Army during World War II. He worked for Fairfield Manufacturing Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1985. Jerry enjoyed gospel music, fishing, and doing upholstery work. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving with his wife, Wanda, are, 2 sons, Brian Yates (wife: Pegi) of Lafayette, IN and Brice Yates (wife: Stephanie) of rural Alvin, IL; 2 sisters, Marilyn Lane of Danville, IL and Cindy Pence (husband: Clifford) of Williamsport, IN; 8 grandchildren, Lanie Hazlewood, Katie Yates, Jessica Davis (husband: Tony), Kodi Vicari (husband: Andy), Kasi Graham (husband: Cole), Sandy Jamison, Tina Terry, and Rachael Zanker; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Charles Yates, and nephew, Norman Simpson.
