Linda Gene Hunter

Linda Gene Hunter, 69, born July 1, 1945, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 29, 2015 after battling cancer since 2003. She married Herbert Benjamin “Ben” Hunter on June 22, 1969. Linda was a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church, where she played the piano for many years. She attended elementary school at Locust Grove School and graduated as salutatorian from Boswell High School in the class of 1963. She graduated with a Home Economics degree from Purdue in 1969. Linda was active as a volunteer when her children were at Boswell Elementary and Benton Central. She was instrumental in forming and supporting Dollars for Scholars, SEEK & other gifted and talented programs. Linda & Ben along with 4 other couples were the driving force behind keeping Boswell Elementary open in the 1970’s. Linda was the Benton County Fair Queen in 1963. Linda was passionate about politics and was active in Warren County Republican politics. Ben & Linda attended the 1981 Ronald Reagan inaugural ball. Linda loved traveling and especially loved beaches in Mexico and boating on Dale Hollow and Lake Powell. She was an excellent cook and made ethnic food and bread from scratch for many years. Linda loved living on the farm. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ben, her daughter Amy Booher (husband AJ) of West Lafayette and children Kayla, Joe & Zachary; daughter Becky Morris (husband Tagg) of Oxford and children Nicholas & Vivian; son John Hunter of Ambia; her father, Gene Leak of West Lafayette and sister, Janet Booth (husband Jack) of Ambia. Her mother, Vivian (Carlson) Leak, preceded her in death. Please join her family in celebrating her life on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Four Points by Sheraton in West Lafayette http://www.fourpointswestlafayette.com Casual attire is requested. Flowers may be sent to the Four Points by Sheraton. A private interment will be at a later date.
