Larry James Verden

Larry James Verden, age 42, of Covington died at 11:40 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital. Larry was born in Danville, IL on January 28, 1973. He was the son of James Calvin and Mazie K. (Snellenberger) Verden. He attended Shawnee Learning Center and later Attica Schools. He was a lifelong resident of Covington, IN. Larry was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Covington, IN where his father had been an usher for over 30 years. Upon his father’s death he continued in his footsteps becoming an usher at the church. He was a member of the Sunshine Class for Special Needs at the church and participated in the Special Olympics Bowling where he excelled and received many medals. For the last several years he attended The Joy Prom for special needs in Charlotte, NC. Surviving are, mother, Mazie Verden of Covington, IN; 2 sisters, Conda Holland of Tampa, FL and Sharon Verden of Charlotte, NC; niece, Kristen Harper (Husband: Matt) of Tampa, FL; great-nephew, Micah Harper and great-niece, Lily Harper. Larry was preceded in death by his father, James C. “Sidekick” Verden, grandparents, and several loving aunts and uncles. Visitation will be at First Assembly of God Church, 421 Market Street, Covington, IN 47932 on Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Services will be at the church on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor Bob “Good Guy” Fairchild officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Assembly of God Church Sunshine Class.
