Mary L. (May) Schlosser

July 9, 1928 — May 23, 2015

Well, it seems like there wasn’t enough trouble to stir up here on earth, so Mary decided to go find some elsewhere. Mary May Schlosser (née Mary Louise May), 86, left this life behind her on Saturday, May 23rd at 12:55pm surrounded by loving family and friends while under the care of the kind staff at University Place in West Lafayette. Funeral service will be held at the Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Wednesday, May 27th at 11am with Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating to honor her life and the impact it made on so many others. Her burial will follow afterwards at the West Lebanon Cemetery, where she will be reunited with her husband, Harold. Mary was born in Talbot, in Benton County Ind. on July 9th 1928 to father Burgess Raymond May (d. 1964) and mother Jesse Alice May (née Rector) (d. 1989). She was the fourth child born of ten. While still a young child, her family moved to Warren County, where she spent most of her life. She graduated as Valedictorian of Williamsport High School in 1946, after which she was employed in the area until she retired in 1993 after working 36 years with the Warren County REMC. In October 1958, she married Harold Schlosser, and the two remained married until his passing in June 1996. In September 1960, their daughter, and only child, Sara was born. She is preceded in death by brothers Robert and Dean May; sisters, Grace Walters, Stella (May) Wolf and Evelyn and Eileen May; grandson, Zachery Russian (d. 2014). She is survived by her siblings, Juanita (May) Kane, of Williamsport, James “Jim” May, of Attica, and Lucille (May) Cowgill of AZ, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her daughter, Sara Lea Russian (née Schlosser) of Greenville, NC survives her also, along with her husband John Russian and their daughter Rachel Russian. Mary enjoyed a lot of things about life, but she took the most pleasure in spending time with her family and friends. She remained very close with her siblings throughout her life. She had a close relationship with her daughter Sara and her husband John, and received much joy in watching her two grandchildren Rachel and Zachery grow into adulthood. She traveled from Indiana to North Carolina at least once a year to spend time with them after their relocation from the Midwest. Though she had an exceptional amount of pride for her family, her friends meant just as much to her, and she was never too busy to lend a caring ear or helping hand to anyone who asked. She was a smart woman with a sharp wit who was often right, but she was never too proud to admit when she was wrong. Visitors are welcome to come and say their final farewells to Mary at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Tuesday, May 26th, from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society, the Warren County Community Foundation, the Williamsport Washington Township Public Library, or a charity of your own choosing.
