Viola M. (Lanham) Warren Ottinger, age 91 of Williamsport, IN died at 1:10 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Williamsport Nursing & Rehabilitation where she had been a resident the past 6 years.
Viola was born on February 17, 1924 in Middleburg, KY. She was the daughter of Ernest M. and Essa M. (Wesley) Lanham. She came to Warren County in 1949 after living in Rob Roy in Fountain County. She married Leck Warren on December 31, 1942. She later married Walter “Peanut” Ottinger on June 13, 1981. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2002.
Viola worked for Community Hospital in Williamsport for 26 years retiring in 1995. She was a member of Baptist Mission Church in Williamsport. She was an avid reader, quilter, and sewer. She enjoyed doing word searches.
Surviving are, 3 sons, Robin Warren (Beverly) of Dayton, IN, Russell Warren (Karen) of Plainfield, IN, and Robert “Steve” Warren of Attica, IN; 2 daughters, Linda Groleau of Crawfordsville, IN and Lisa Hollis (Harold) of Pine Village, IN; 1 stepdaughter, Janice Reeder (Dan) of Danville, IL; 18 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Viola was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Gertrude Turner, Mary Patterson, and Martha Lanham, 6 brothers, Ernest, Ray, Thomas, Loyd, Dale, and Joe Lanham, and a son, Roger Warren.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 5;00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be held there in the chapel on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Stamm officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Williamsport United Methodist Church Food Pantry, Williamsport Nursing & Rehabilitation Center or Mac Van.
