Ronald E. Hines

Ronald E. Hines, 73 of Ambia, son of the late Ned V. Hines and Stella Phelps. Proceeding him in death was his brother, James Edward Hines. After a two and a half year battle with leukemia he entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 11:25 AM. Ron was born in Judyville, Indiana on November 23, 1941, and graduated from Ambia High School in 1959. He married Linda S. Culp on February 14, 1973 who survives. He is survived by his children Troy Hines, Todd Hines (Lottie) both of Elkhart, Indiana, Trent Hines (Bobbi) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Jami Butler (Andy) of Fowler, Indiana, also nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Ron started playing music with his family when he was a kid. He played in many bands starting with the Rockin’ Cat-Tels in high school, and the latest being The Highway 341 Band in Wallace, Indiana. He was passionate about his family and music. He was the organist at the Ambia United Methodist Church for many years. He was one of the most caring, compassionate and fun loving person that you could meet. He never knew a stranger. Ron spent the last two and a half years enjoying spending time with his family and friends. Although he was sick much of the time he always found time to spend with the band, and play the organ at church. Even in his last days he still had his sense of humor. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be at the Ambia United Methodist Church, 105 W. Beech Street, Ambia, IN on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Clint Fink officiating. Private interment will follow at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation.
