Mary Elizabeth (Cline) Winegardner

Mary Elizabeth (Cline) Winegardner, age 95 of Williamsport, IN died at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Liberty Township, Warren County, IN on March 28, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Bryan and Leota (Smith) Cline. She graduated from Pine Village High School in 1937 and received an elementary teaching degree from Butler University. Mrs. Winegardner graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree after teaching 35 years in the Warren County Schools with 26 years of those being at Pine Village School teaching 4th grade where she retired in 1981. Her marriage was to Paul H. Winegardner in the home of her parents on July 20, 1941. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2001. Mrs. Winegardner was a member of Hickman Heights Christian Church, Retired Teachers Association and the Warren County Historical Society. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and traveling including visits to all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. Surviving are, 1 son, Duane Winegardner (Carol) of Williamsport, IN; 1 daughter, Nancy Whichard (Obie) of Falls Church, VA; 4 grandchildren, Anne Rhea, Amy Johnson, Paul Whichard and Mary Crow; and 5 great-grandchildren, Madeline Rhea, Natalie Rhea, Ayden Johnson, Audreyanna Johnson, Aaron Johnson and a baby boy due in January. Mary was preceded by a brother and sister-in-law, Maurice Duane and Mary Alice Cline. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be at Hickman Heights Christian Church on Saturday, November 29, 014 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Keeton and Bret Rhea performing the service. Interment will follow at Rainsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hickman Heights Christian Church or the Wee Care Preschool at Pine Village.
