Mary Maxine Stewart

Mary Maxine Stewart, age 96 of Williamsport, IN went to her Heavenly home on October 25, 2014 at 9:50 p.m. in the home of her daughter. Maxine was born on March 9, 1918 in Fountain County, IN. She was the daughter of Herschel and Lela (Keller) Wertz. She was a graduate of Williamsport High School. On May 27, 1931 she married Kenneth V. Stewart and he preceded her in death on August 23, 1996. Maxine lived her whole life in Williamsport. She was an avid bowler and card player. She loved mowing her lawn, and was still push mowing it will into her nineties. Late in life she took an interest in quilting and cross stitching and made many quilts that have been passed on to her family. Surviving are, 2 daughters, Jill Jordan (husband: Don) of West Lebanon, IN and Mitzi Hamilton of Fort Wayne, IN; 8 grandchildren, Kim Darney, Bo Stewart, Michelle Cupit, Tami McDaniel, Traci Booe, Toni Crain, Brook Cain, and Denny Hamilton; 16 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Maxine was preceded in death by 2 sons, Michael K. Stewart and Butch Stewart; 2 sisters, Doris Pugh and Betty Millburg; 1 brother, Kenneth “Bud” Wertz; and a son-in-law, Denny Hamilton. Maxine will be sadly missed by her dog, Pepper, and everyone who knew and loved her. A celebration of life service will be held at Covington First Baptist Church on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joe Humrichous officiating. Private interment will take place at Highland Cemetery in Williamsport, IN.
