Kenneth E. Van Pelt

Kenneth E. Van Pelt, age 80 of West Lebanon, IN died at 6:52 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 at IU Health in Lafayette, IN.  Kenneth was born near Williamsport, IN on December 5, 1933.  He was the son of Charles and Ethel (Wurtsbaugh) Van Pelt.  He was born and raised in Warren County and attended West Lebanon schools. He married Anna Jo Griffis on October 31, 1953 in Cayuga, IN.  After their marriage they lived in Vermillion County, IN for 20 years before moving to Warren County in 1975.  Kenneth owned a paint and body shop for 45 years before retiring in 1985.  He was an avid hunter and enjoyed playing guitar.   Surviving with his wife, Anna, are 2 sons, Kenneth Earl Van Pelt, Jr. (wife: Peggy) of Perrysville, IN and Steven Wayne Van Pelt (wife: Susan) of State Line, IN 2 daughters, Ronda Jo Conrad (husband: Jerry) of rural Williamsport, IN and Janet Marie Lindley (husband: Howard) of Kingman, IN 1 sister, Betty Ann Chambers of IL 4 grandchildren, Kari Conrad, Lisa Ross, Charles Van Pelt and Emily Perigo 7 great-grandchildren, Katelynn Rae Simonton, Brian Simonton, Aaron Simonton, Skylar Wood, Austin Wood, Sean Edwards, Kailie Van Pelt. Kenneth was preceded in death by 8 brothers, L.D. Van Pelt, A.C. Van Pelt, Clyde Owen Van Pelt, Oscar Lee Van Pelt, Charles Raymond “Chuck” Van Pelt, Harold Leroy Van Pelt, William Dean Van Pelt, and Austin Lynn Van Pelt, and 3 sisters, Helen Alberta Hanson, Catherine Ellen Morlan Hinton, and Olive Jean Coats.  Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday March 26, 2014 at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon, IN. Visitation will begin 12:00 Noon Wednesday at the funeral home and continue until the time of service. Interment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be given to the family to help with funeral expense. Online condolences may be made at www.gradyfuneralhome.com.
