Stacey Mechel (Lucas) Owens, age 41, died suddenly at 4:51 P.M. on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis. Mechel was born on February 3, 1967 in Lafayette, IN. She was the daughter of William H. and Linda S. (Marlatt) Lucas. She resided most of her life in Warren County. She graduated from Seeger High School in 1985. She then graduated as a licensed cosmetologist from the Lafayette Beauty Academy. Later she received her Bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology from Purdue University. She married Kevin W. Owens on January 21, 2005 in Williamsport, IN. He survives. Mechel worked in the banking industry but was now able to stay at home with her son, Lucas. She was a member of the Williamsport Christian Church and the St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital Guild. She enjoyed reading, gardening and antiquing. She especially enjoyed playing with her baby, Lucas. Surviving with her husband, Kevin, are, 1 son, Wayne “Lucas” Owens, at home; 1 stepdaughter, Kaylee Christine Owens of West Lebanon; parents, William H. and Linda S. Lucas of Williamsport; 1 brother, Tony Lucas (wife: Trish) of Huntley, IL; 1 sister, Sueann Pierski (husband: Thomas) of Oswego, IL; maternal grandmother, Mary Marlatt of Williamsport; paternal grandmother, Delilah Lucas of Williamsport; nieces and nephews, Andy Lucas, Taylor Lucas, Tad Pierski, Andy Eades and Brian Eades; and mother-in-law, Freida Owens of West Lebanon. Mechel was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Howard Marlatt, and paternal grandfather, William H. Lucas, Sr. and father-in-law, Richard Wayne Owens. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Friday, July 11, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. EDT. Services will be there in the chapel on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. EDT with Pastor Bryce Wiley and Rev. Don Williams officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be to the Hospital Guild Fund through the Warren County Community Foundation.
