Virginia (Jewell) Perry, age 88 of Covington, went home to be with her Lord at 10:25 A.M. CST on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, IL. Virginia was born on July 19, 1919 in Barron County, KY. She was the daughter of John W. and Ida (Scott) Jewell. She was raised and attended school in Kentucky. At a young age she moved to the Greenwood and Whiteland, IN area and then moved to Fairland, IN in 1947 where she resided until becoming a resident of Covington in 2000. On February 26, 1940 she married Richard Perry in Indianapolis, IN. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1976. Virginia was a homemaker. She was a previous member of the Fairland Baptist Church and a current member of Covington First Baptist Church. Surviving are, 1 son, Larry Perry (wife: Linda) of Covington; sisters-in-law, Jerri Jewell of Morristown, IN, Vada Jewell of Shelbyville, IN and Mary Alice Jackman of London, IN; 1 granddaughter, Melanie Harmon of Covington; 3 great-granddaughters, Jessica, Lacey and Emily Harmon all of Covington. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, 3 sisters, Helen Hicks, Ruie Surface and Adeline Suttle, and 3 brothers, Raymond Jewell, Chester Jewell, and Elmer Jewell. Visitation will be at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg, IN on Thursday, May 1, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. EST with services to immediately follow at 8:00 P.M. with Stefan Drambarean officiating. Visitation will be at Freeman Family Funeral Home, Carmony-Ewing Chapel in Shelbyville, IN on Friday, May 2, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. EST. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. EST at Fairland Cemetery in Fairland, IN.
