Delia "Kate" Jean (Martin) Lanham

Delia Jean “Cathern” (Martin) Lanham, age 83 of Attica, IN died at 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Kate was born on February 21, 1930 in Bethelridge, KY. She was the daughter of Mose and Lydia (Wesley) Martin. She was a Warren County resident since 1942 and graduated from Pine Village High School in 1949. She married Ernest W. “Bud” Lanham on January 15 1949 in Kentland, IN. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1999. Kate was a cook at the Kramer school and later at Seeger High School and Williamsport Elementary for 24 years where she was affectionately known by the students as “Katie”. She was an active member of the Hickman Heights Christian Church where she had taught during VBS and helped with the church meals. She enjoyed cooking, her family, and especially her grandchildren. Surviving are, 3 sons, David Lee Lanham (wife: Melissa) of Attica, IN, James E. Lanham (wife: Lynne) of Williamsport, IN and Timothy W. Lanham (wife: Annette) of Vernon, FL 1 sister, Elizabeth Garrett of Attica, IN 7 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren Numerous children that passed through her life that called her “grandma” Cathern was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Howard and Harvey Martin. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Keeton officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Williamsport, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hickman Heights Christian Church.
