Doris J. Groff

Doris J. (Owens) Groff, age 67 of West Lebanon, IN died at 8:55 P.M. EST on Friday, February 29, 2008 at Home Hospital in Lafayette, IN. Doris was born in Williamsport, IN on June 23, 1940. She was the daughter of Forrest and Irene (Shaughnessy) Owens. She attended West Lebanon School and was a lifelong resident of Warren County. She married Rudy Groff in Attica, IN and had been married for 48 years. Doris worked at Purdue University since 1998. She was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3318. She enjoyed refinishing furniture. Surviving with her husband, Rudy, are, mother-in-law, Alberta Groff; brother, William “Hermie” Owens; wife: Mary Jane); sister, Karen Layton; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Lola Hislope (husband: Dormas), Judy Colby (husband: Norman), Max Groff (wife: Harriet), Hershel Groff, Louise Owens, Freida Owens, Linda Wesley and Wilton McKinzie; and several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her son, Robert Dean Groff, 2 sisters, Barbara Owens and Betty McKinzie, and 3 brothers, Paul, Daniel James & Richard Wayne Owens. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon on Sunday, March 2, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. EST with Ladies Auxiliary services at 6:00 P.M. EST. Services will be there in the chapel on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. EST with Minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3318.
