Lloyd J. Hickman, age 88 of Covington, IN died at 6:35 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Waters of Covington. Lloyd was born on April 22, 1924 near State Line, IN. He was the son of Jesse H. and Emma (Taylor) Hickman. He was a 1943 graduate of Covington High School. He married Carolyn Astell in Marshfield, IN on August 18, 1945. She survives. He lived east of State Line, IN for many years before moving to Covington in 1973. Lloyd worked for Chicago & Eastern IL Railroad, which was later known as CSX. He retired in 1985 after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, F & AM Covington Lodge #60 receiving his 50 year pin, Scottish Rite Valley of Danville, Order of Eastern Star Troy Chapter #145 receiving a 50 year pin, and the Union RR Transportation Communications International. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Indiana University Hoosier fan. Surviving with his wife, are, 2 sons, Harold Hickman (wife: Susan) of Greenwood, IN and Kenneth Hickman (wife: Sharon) of Jacksonville, IL; 1 daughter, Karen Auble (husband: Randy) of Indianapolis, IN; 1 half-brother, Merle Hickman; 1 half-sister, Carol Zink; 7 grandchildren, Scott Hickman (Samantha), Amanda Higgins (Allen), Brad Hickman (Nikki), Jason Hickman, Kyle Hickman (Tiffany), Melanie Fellows, and David Auble; 8 great-grandchildren, Jacob Hickman, Connor Hickman, A.J. Higgins, Allie Higgins, Katelyn Fellows, Madelyn Fellows, Kayleigh Hickman, and Cora Hickman. Lloyd was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Max and Howard Hickman, 1 sister, Evelyn Bever, 1 half-sister, Betty Hickman, and 1 grandson, James Robert Auble. Visitation will be at Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, 7114 W US Highway 136, Covington, IN on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. EST with Masonic services at 6:45 p.m. Services will be there on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. EST with Rev. Brenda Burnworth officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church or F & AM Covington Lodge #60.
