Warren K. Garrison, age 97 of Williamsport, died at 4:20 p.m. CST on Friday, January 18, 2013 at the VA Illiana Health Care System, Palliative Care, in Danville, IL. Warren was born on January 12, 1916 in Steuben Township, IN. He was the son of John P. and Beatrice (Stephens) Garrison. He was a 1934 graduate of West Lebanon High School. He served in the US Navy and from 1935-1939 he served aboard the USS Oklahoma as a gunners mate. He then served aboard the USS Thomas Jefferson from 1942-1945 attaining the rank of chief gunners mate. He was there during the invasion of Europe, Italy, North Africa, Okinawa, Japan and at the end was in Sasebo, Japan. He married Fay LaVone Jordan on January 15, 1944. She survives. Warren worked for Ura Seeger at the Marshfield Elevator and then worked at C & D Battery for 27 years retiring in 1982. He also farmed with his father. He played baseball for local teams where he was the catcher and also played while he was in the Navy. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid sports fan. Surviving with his wife, are 1 daughter, Vera Wooster (husband: Terry) of Perrysville, IN 1 grandson, Keir Wooster of Perrysville, IN 2 great-grandchildren, Forrest Leigh and Samantha Wooster Several nieces and nephews Warren was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Ellen Peaveler, Bernice Salts, Rose Allen, and Virginia Arthur, 1 brother, Richard Garrison, and 1 daughter, infant Theresa Ann Garrison. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Monday, January 21, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tony DeMoss officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Union Church, c/o Mary Wickens, 15670 N. Charity Lane, Covington, IN 47932.
